A week of fun science activities catered to years 3-4 (ages 7-9)
Service Description
A week of activities. Each day is themed and linked to a particular science. These sessions agree designed to stimulate their minds and promote a love for science and engineering and give them a head start for their entry into secondary. A breakdown of each day: Day 1: Living Organisms - We explore all types of living organisms from the very large to the very small. Students will get to explore and make observations using microscopes. There will be an opportunity to craft models that they can take home and watch our planetarium show about the human body and the ocean world. Day 2 - Colourful Chemistry - Students will perform a variety of different chemistry experiments ranging from the colour changing to the bizarre. shape shifting properties of some materials. Day 3 - Space and Beyond - Students will get to explore and understand more about Space through planetarium shows about space. We will also attempt some gravity defying experiments using magnets. Day 4 - Buildings and Bridges - here students will get to explore their engineering skills. We provide the materials and some guidance and the group will work in teams to build various structures including a bridge that will cross our treacherous river (paddling pool!) Day 5 It is Rocket Science! - Here we learn the science behind rockets and fireworks. Lots of fire and explosive experiments and demonstrations as well as the opportunity to build their own rocket and launch it. All sessions are risk assessed and participants will be given a health and safety briefing specific to each day before the fun begins. Safety equipment such as goggles, gloves and aprons will be provided by us. Food and drink is not provide so please ensure your child has adequate drinking water and snacks for the day.
